1. Purpose of the App
"PDF Doc Scanning App - NexScan" is a utility application designed to
help users capture, convert, and manage documents by turning images into
high-quality PDF files. It also provides tools to add signatures to
documents. It does two main things:
• Scans documents using your device's camera or imported images from
your gallery and converts them into PDF;
• Allows you to add signatures to documents you create or import.
All of this happens with your permission and under your control. Most
processing happens directly on your device---not in the cloud.
2. Information We Collect
To enable core functionality and provide technical support, we collect
and process the following categories of information:
A. Permissions and Access
We ask for permission to access certain parts of your device, including:
• Your camera (to capture document scans);
• Your photo library and file storage (to import images or documents for
conversion into PDF).
You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time through your
iPhone settings.
We also collect:
- Info you send us through feedback or support requests;
- Anonymous session data to help us understand usage patterns.
B. Automatically Processed Info
To power scanning, we process some data automatically on your device:
- Metadata such as image resolution, orientation, and file information
needed to perform scanning and PDF creation;
- Anonymous behavior data for improving app performance and user
experience.
Nothing is uploaded or stored on our servers. We don't access or keep
your personal content.
C. Crash Reports & Analytics
To make the app more stable, we use services like Firebase and Amplitude
for crash reports and performance monitoring. These tools only collect
anonymized technical data.
3. Legal Basis for Data Processing
We rely on the following legal bases for collecting and processing your
information:
- To fulfill our agreement with you by delivering the app's
functionality;
- To improve our app based on legitimate interests (e.g., bug fixes,
performance updates);
- Based on your consent, especially for optional analytics or
permissions you grant.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data to:
- Convert your captured or imported images into PDF files for your
review and export;
- Enhance document scanning, rendering, and signing tools;
- Respond to technical support requests;
- Improve the stability, usability, and performance of the App through
anonymized diagnostics.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for
advertising or marketing purposes under any circumstances.
5. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds
All purchases and subscription payments are securely processed through
the Apple App Store. We never have access to your personal payment
details.
Refunds must be requested through Apple Support, not through us
directly.
If Apple contacts us for refund verification, we may provide limited,
anonymized data related to your in-app purchase to help assess
eligibility. This may include:
- Time since app installation;
- Total usage duration;
- Anonymous user or device identifier;
- Whether the content was consumed or used;
- Whether a trial period was included;
- Total amount spent and/or refunded.
We only share what's needed to support the refund process and nothing
else.
6. Data Security
We implement security practices to help protect your data:
- We do all sensitive processing (such as scanning, image handling,
PDF generation, and document signing) directly on your device;
- Any stored settings are encrypted, where possible;
- Access to diagnostic data is restricted and anonymized.
Despite our safeguards, no digital system is completely secure. We
recommend backing up important data before deletion or modification
within the App.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not
knowingly collect or process personal information from individuals below
this age. If we become aware that data has been inadvertently collected
from a minor, it will be promptly deleted.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable data protection laws, you may
have the right to:
- Access a copy of the data we have about you;
- Request deletion of locally stored settings or usage data;
- Revoke access permissions at any time;
- File a complaint with a local data protection authority.
